Founded in 1859, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary is the oldest educational institution in the Southern Baptist Convention. As the flagship Seminary of the SBC, Southern has a rich tradition and history that is second to none.

Over the years, the strength of the seminary can be measured by the number of alumni and friends who have supported the Seminary through prayer, the sending of students, and through giving.

The Cooperative Program is the largest supporter of Southern Seminary and SBTS is eternally grateful to the churches of the Southern Baptist Convention for their selfless support of Cooperative Program purposes. Alumni and friends who give to the Seminary over and above their regular tithe make it possible for students to receive the very best training for ministry at the most affordable cost.
