A Call to Ministry is a Call to Prepare
Know God’s Word
Today’s gospel ministers need to have a deep understanding of God’s word. They need rigorous training in the Old Testament, New Testament, biblical languages, church history, and theology to be able to “rightly handle the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)
Teach God’s Word
Gospel ministers must have the conviction that when they teach the Bible, they are teaching the truth. This confidence comes from a deep knowledge of God and learning from others with wisdom and experience.
Apply God’s Word
Gospel ministers will lead others to both know and do all that God has instructed in Scripture. Today’s ministry leaders both need to have applied God’s word faithfully to their own lives and lead others to do the same.
