On Monday, May 13, five women students from both The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Boyce College were recognized for receiving the Mary K. Mohler Scholarship at a special luncheon ceremony. The event offered an opportunity for recipients to express their gratitude and for Mary Mohler and the donors to meet the students they are helping to support.
Boyce College scholarship recipients included: Taylor Bonilla, Gabriela Cornieles, Allison Moldenhauer, Kelsie Robb, and Katie Robb.
SBTS scholarship recipients included: Veronica Graham, Cambria Mack, Ann Ruth, Ella Wilkins, and Jin Zhang.
“Our recent luncheon brought together both donors and recipients and was such a delight,” Mary Mohler said. “I am both thrilled and humbled by the inception of this scholarship fund in my name for female students. I cannot think of a better way to honor me than by providing scholarships for the benefit of women whom God has called out to serve.”
The scholarship was established during R. Albert Mohler Jr’s 30th anniversary of the presidency of Southern Seminary and in recognition of her tireless service to the students and friends of Southern Seminary.
The initial idea for the scholarship came from Joanne Ziegler, a longtime supporter of Southern Seminary, who was also recognized at the luncheon. In all, 30 individuals and couples who donated to the scholarship fund raised more than $60,000.
“I look forward to getting to know our scholarship recipients better,” Mary Mohler said. “The selection committee shared glowing letters of recommendation they received about these bright, industrious, and godly young women.”
The donors present at the luncheon included: Joanne Ziegler, Teresa Bachman, and Denise Ramos.
“The Lord will surely bless the sacrificial gifts of the donors,” Mary Mohler said. “As our scholarship recipients diligently complete their studies here, we prayerfully anticipate the advance of the gospel in multiple ways to God’s glory alone.”
The scholarships are awarded on an annual basis and are divided equally between fall and spring semesters. Funds may be used to cover tuition, fees, books, and room and board. Recipients and award amounts are chosen by the officers of the Woman’s Auxiliary. All scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Find more information on the Mary K. Mohler Scholarship and instructions on how to apply on the website or contact the Office of Financial Aid by calling (502)-897-4206 or emailing financialaid@sbts.edu.
