The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary hosted 140 prospective students for its Spring Preview Day on April 11, providing an introduction to life, learning, and ministry preparation on campus. Preview Day offered attendees a full day of engagement with Southern’s Christ-centered mission and academic excellence.
Throughout the day, participants experienced the seminary’s commitment to theological training grounded in biblical truth. The schedule included live classroom visits, a chapel service, and interactive sessions on academic programs, financial aid, and student life. Faculty and staff were present to guide attendees through key aspects of seminary education, helping them discern how Southern can serve as a foundation for a lifetime of faithful ministry.
Paul Akin, Provost of Southern Seminary, emphasized how Preview Day is an important step in helping future students understand the mission of Southern and how they will be equipped for a lifetime of service.
“Preview Day offers future pastors, missionaries, and church leaders an invaluable glimpse into the heart of our mission,” Akin said. “The mission is reflected in face-to-face conversations with faculty, immersion in campus life, and a firsthand look at an institution committed to the gospel, the Bible, the church, and the Great Commission. Having these prospective students on campus with us is a highlight for us every semester.”
Preview Day highlighted Southern Seminary’s convictions: to train pastors, missionaries, and gospel workers who are thoroughly equipped to serve the church and advance the kingdom. The event not only showcased the seminary’s academic rigor, but also its vibrant campus community, institutional heritage, and unwavering commitment to the inerrancy of Scripture and the Great Commission.
With strong participation and clear interest from future students, this Preview Day reflected Southern’s ongoing dedication to raising up a generation of leaders who are passionate about truth and bold in their calling to ministry.
