Timothy K. Beougher will serve as the acting dean of the Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism and Ministry at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, President R. Albert Mohler Jr. announced Thursday evening. Beougher, the Billy Graham Professor of Evangelism and the associate dean of the Billy Graham School, will begin serving as acting dean immediately.

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of professor Timothy Beougher as acting dean of the Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism and Ministry, effective immediately,” Mohler said. “Dr. Beougher is one of the most respected members of the Southern Seminary faculty, and his long tenure and experience with the Billy Graham School, combined with his ongoing administrative responsibility, equips him extremely well for this role during this critical time. I am deeply indebted to him for serving as acting dean, and I know the Graham School, as well as the entire Southern Seminary family, will welcome this news.”

Beougher has been at Southern Seminary since 1996 and has written several books on evangelism, discipleship, and spiritual awakening, including Overcoming Walls to Witnessing and Evangelism in a Changing World. He is senior pastor of West Broadway Baptist Church in Louisville and has extensive ministry experience as an evangelist and church planter.

The Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism and Ministry trains students in both international and domestic missions, church planting, worship leadership, and local church and educational leadership. It was established in 1993 to honor the late Southern Baptist evangelist Billy Graham. It remains the only school to which Graham agreed to give his name.

“It is an honor to be put in this role after 23 years of serving within the Billy Graham School, and I look forward to leading the school during this time of transition in eager anticipation of what lies ahead,” said Beougher. “Billy Graham devoted his life to proclaiming the gospel throughout the world. We feel a strong sense of stewardship as we carry the name Billy Graham and train students to fulfill the Great Commission.”

Beougher earned his bachelor of science from Kansas State University, his master of divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and his master of theology and doctor of philosophy degrees from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He is married to Sharon, with whom he has five children and nine grandchildren.
