R. Albert Mohler Jr, president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary has appointed Dan Dumas, executive pastor at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, Calif., as senior vice president for institutional administration.
Dumas also oversees conferences at Grace Community Church, a congregation shepherded by noted evangelical leader John MacArthur. Dumas will replace Clark Logan who earlier this month was elected vice president for business and finance for the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Dumas has earned degrees from The Master’s Seminary in Sun Valley, Calif. and Criswell College in Dallas, Texas. He is also a United States Navy veteran. Dumas and his wife Jane have a four-year-old son, Aidan.
Mohler said Dumas brings to Southern Seminary a considerable track record of gifted leadership and God-honoring service in local church ministry.
“Dan Dumas is an outstanding Christian leader and Christian minister,” Mohler said. “We look forward to having him join the Southern Seminary team in coming days. He is well qualified for this position. He has done outstanding work and demonstrated outstanding Christian leadership in previous ministry posts.
“He brings a wealth of experience. We look forward to having Dan, Jane and Aidan on the campus as members of the Southern Seminary community.”
Prior to joining the staff at Grace, Dumas logged extensive ministry experience in Southern Baptist churches. He served as college and singles pastor at the Westside Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla., at Cottage Hill Baptist Church in Mobile, Ala., and at Victory Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Previously, he served on staff at the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas.
“I am eager to serve alongside the strong biblical character, strong theological mind and expanding vision of Dr. Mohler and Southern Seminary,” Dumas said.
