Graduate Certificates are reserved for students in the M.Div. program. Each Graduate Certificate is 9 hours unless otherwise stated. Students who already hold a Master of Divinity may earn additional certificates.
Graduate Certificates allow students to pursue theological training unique to their ministry context and career goals.
Upon graduation, students who have earned Graduate Certificates will have them officially recorded on their transcript.
Utilizing elective hours within the M.Div., students may pursue one or multiple Graduate Certificates en route to their degree.

Graduate Certificates allow you to pursue specialized ministry training en route to your M.Div.*
Standard Graduate Certificates are 9 credit hours. Advanced Graduate Certificates are 18 credit hours.
Earned Graduate Certificates will appear on a student’s transcript upon graduation.
*Students who already hold a M.Div. may pursue stand-alone Graduate Certificates.
The Southern M.Div. allows students 21 hours of unrestricted electives.
Students who pursue one Graduate Certificate will utilize 9 of these 21 elective hours. Students who pursue 2 Graduate Certificates will utilize 18 of 21 elective hours.
Note that an Advanced Graduate Certificate will utilize 18 of 21 elective hours.
With the exception of Biblical Counseling, students may choose any combination of a wide array of electives within the discipline of their desired Graduate Certificate(s).
